The Plan for the Day

Yeah, there's the plan I have for the day, and then there is what really happens.

The Plan, was to spend a few hours working on my woodworking project design and to spend a few hours cleaning up old woodworking hand tools that belonged to my grandfather. Along with all the normal stuff that needs to be done around here.

Instead, I spent the morning re-caulking around one of the upstairs bathtubs, because there is a teeny-tiny amount of water leaking from somewhere upstairs and I'm trying to eliminate possible culprits. So I spent my morning rocking the caulking.

I did spend an hour this afternoon working at removing rust from the handtools, with limited success. It involved sandpaper, and I'm still really tired of sanding things. I've read some articles on using electrolysis for rust removal, and that's what I'll try next.

Speaking of sanding, here is a picture of the oil finished Pocket Wheel; I really like how the oil warmed up the wood color.

Now, I'm blogging instead of fixing dinner, so it is time to go.

  1. The wheel is gorgeous! I can't wait to see it.

Is it totally out of the question to soak the tools in CLR or Lime Away?
