Oh, he was just playing possum! I rolled him over to get a picture of his underside, and he stayed still. He scampered off when I took him back outside.
It doesn't look like an alligator lizard. Maybe a bluebelly? Awfully cute! A couple years ago I kept finding newborn alligator lizards in my house, which was really cute. And then I found the mother lying on a the windowsill in my dining room--about two feet long, and not at all cute! And she tried to bite me when I relocated her outside. That's gratitude for you!
Is he okay? Doesn't look good in that second photo! I've always liked lizards, so I hope he's just cold....

ReplyDeleteLast month was alligator lizards, but not in my house. They're cute when little, and ferocious when they get big.
